I have grown outdoors, in the dirt, for years. I’ve never done much, just basic composting of yard and table scraps that gets tilled in when I get to it, and the yearly winter till (dead leaves and branches from the trees), and a cover crop. Never paid much attention to npk or nutrient content of any sort because it just worked, and if it ain’t broke... I’ve never mixed a “living soil” or bubbled any kind of compost tea for cannabis, but times have changed. I now grow in soft pots, both indoors and out. I tried a few different styles of indoor growing to find what suits my needs and how I would like to operate for the time being. I would like an organic soil, but not necessary no till, as I plan on one and done with the soil for hygiene/pest reasons. I will throw it in the garden in a new plot. I just haven’t dialed in my flower mix yet, and looking for advice. I start with FFOF cut with worm castings from Walmart, Root Magic, a bunch of perlite and local compost in a solo cup. I cut the perlite addition and up the castings when transplanting to a 5 gallon soft pot. I water with liquid seaweed from Blue Planet and hydrolyzed fish/kelp from GS about twice a week. Every other feed with this has some kind of brix nute with Root Magic (thinking of switching to Recharge). Sometimes I will add silica from Blue Planet at 1/2 dose. I amend with a handful of worm shit about once a week during veg. This carries me to transition. During transition, they seem to lose steam. They don’t show any massive deficiency, but they slow down and look hungry. I use my same “recipe” with the addition of what I think is Alaska Morbloom if I remember right. I think 0-10-10. This just doesn’t seem to get them through, and I’m forced to supplement with FF trio or AN pH Perfect. My outdoor plants are in soft pots of my backyard soil, and showing no signs of deficiency being watered with the hose and basically no nutrients added. I can bubble a tea if need be, but I would rather: A. Dry amend during transition, with plain water or water+XYZ feeding through flower. B. Throw some amendments/nutrients in the can and water it in. I know there is Fox Farms, Down to Earth, Jobes, Dr. Earth, but what would be recommended for my situation? Would Dr. Earth flower girl amended during transition at the recommended dosage be sufficient? I bought some Dr Earth bud booster made from food waste, but haven’t tried it yet (it fucking stinks and has a pH over 8).
Your outdoor sounds on point for true organic gardening. I would highly suggest sticking to that program of composting leaves, yard waste, manure, etc and loose all the bottles and fancy products. There isn’t a magic product that makes flowering a breeze besides building quality organic soil from the start and maintaining it. You could grow many Dynamic Accumulators plants like Comfrey and chop & drop, feed through your worm farm, etc to feed your cannabis plants for free. I use a Banana Fermented Fruit Juice in flower once a week as a booster. It’s very simple to make and all you need is organic bananas and brown sugar. You can make leaf mold with all those leaves too, an awesome replacement for peat moss and rock dust. “Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished” - Lao Tzu Prepper420’s No-Tillin Adventure!
I think you should up your Organic matter content of your soil. Perhaps composted manure could help alleviate the problems you are having. As Prepper said, it sounds like you have a pretty good system going. Nice! Sent from my Pixel using Grasscity Forum mobile app
