Wiring Cari-Speed controller to Vortex fan... help

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by newgrowNY, Nov 20, 2009.

  1. Hey guys... I have a 6" Vortex fan and a Vari-Speed fan controller. Anyone know how to wire this thing to the fan?

Pics of the electrical connections on the fan and the controller.

    Green is ground.

One pink/red lead is in, the other out.

If you hook them (the pink wires) up backwards it just won't work.

Connect in series with the black wire (from the AC).

    In other words:

disconnect the black wire from the AC, connect one pink wire to this, the other pink wire to where the black wire went.

connect the green wire to the other green wire (green/yellow connection).

  3. But which side of the terminal block on the vortex do I hook it up to and to what wire? The top of the pic, on the vortex, is the power in side. Ground I got... its just the two red wires is really throwing me off.

  4. you still here

  5. yea still here

  6. the cord from the wall outlet to the fan in the top pic. The black wire that is hooked into the terminal on top next to the green wire. Take it out of the block and run it to the controller and a wire back from the controler to that terminal.
