hey all, i just bought a 2'x2' flourescent light fixture, it has a white and black wire coming out of the ballast, can i wire a 120v plug on the end and plug it directly into the wall?
yeah the ballast is 120v. i cut the female end of an extension cord off and wired that to the ballast. i plug it in and the lghts burn just fine. i'm just concerned about the wire sizes. the ballast wires are a little smaller than the cord. i assumed that was ok because the amps drawn by the ballast only need the smaller sized wire to run through.
exactly, just use an old extension cord or from an old applaince.....be sure to cover where the wires meet with connector and electrical tape...good to go.
