Why wont they grow

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by Smokey McPot, Dec 9, 2005.

  1. I have a shelf growing setup and a regular pot under a regular lightbulb, i've had them for about a week and a half and they haven't even sprouted yet last time i grew they sprouted within a week. why wont they grow?

  2. could be many things

    1. soil no good (too hard, no air, to compact to allow sprout to come up)
    2. soil not moist enough
    3. Bad seed
    4. Crushed seed (if you got it from a baggy)
    5. Seed planted to deep in soil

Many variables, which is why you should elliminate most of all of them by using the wet tissue method to germinate your seeds.

  3. Did you say normal bulb?

You need either the long fluroscent "shop" bulbs(4 feet long and not very practical), compact fluroscent bulbs(very cheap on energy use and small for little space usage), a HPS bulb, or a MH bulb(these two are the best choice because they are high intensity lights that really work well on the plants, but they are hot and so then you have to consider ventalation.

Use a jiffy soil disk that you soak in water to enlarge. Plant your germinated seed in there, put it under your lights(this is the best usage for the compact fluroscents) and it will sprout. Mind yout temps and fresh air too.

    Best luck
