Why does it smell like dry hay?

  1. I pulled a bud and hung dried it and its now been in a jar for four or five days I'm just wondering why it does have a better smell to it?

  2. It hasn't been properly cured, so it smells like fresh hay until it dries and cures which will bring back its smell.

  3. Give it 2 months in a jar in a dark area and then smell it. And taste it! And the THC level goes up!

  4. Exactly, as it cures the thc is brought out more in the bud, and the plants natural chemicals that give it that "dank" smell return when its completely dry. But be warned if you quick dry your buds to a dry crumble there gonna be harsh and smell like crap, take it slow and watch for mold.

  5. Look up decarboxylation (link below) for more in-depth info, and search another for Terpenoids for some better reading if youre interested in some of the science behind the action.
