Why capitalism is the best! :)

  1. Who determines how the state determines this? No, this can't be chicken and the egg, too, can it? Why do we preach then!? (Again, I'm thinking out type.)

Infamous? lol Man, I still have my offer up to all: what is the bkadoctaj strategy? If you can tell me it, I'll rep you and admit it.

  2. Yes, in the whole of society, this does lie in idealism rather than realism (at least in the present day, I still have hope for the future), but in (semi)isolated places it is thriving. Such as the examples I mentioned, one of the best being OpenSource software. Most of it is being made by individual people, working together to put stuff together, and to give it to people for free, so they can enjoy it, and also have the right to help with it too, if they want.

A completely symbiotic human society may be a stretch, but at least the free and open dissemination of information is going strong at this very moment, and gaining ground every day. There is still plenty more it could strive for, but at least this is in the realm of realism.

But I won't stop dreaming--hoping--for a symbiotic society, where love and freedom are of the highest value.

  3. Argue that capitalism is a necessary stage in societal evolution

However it is no longer necessary, it has ceased to play a progressive role, and now stands as a road block in the way of progress.

  4. i would have to disagree and say that competition is the shit that makes our world go round. competition = evolution, which is what we constantly need to do.

i think what we, everyday people, need to do is compete for our own gain rather than dance at the whimp of the few for their gain.

o ya? ill send you 20 bucks cash if you can put it into a legit math expression.

  5. Well, couldn't it be argued that Open Source is thriving in the midst of capitalism?

By the way, I totally am with you on dreaming (hoping, wishing) on a better world. :)

I don't even know if there is anything to put in one. :p

Hmm... well, if you make the rules, I say you might have an advantage. Oh, great, and now here comes a discussion of how we're all equal politically thanks to our inalienable rights... Right?

  6. The state devours so much money and resources. Sure, a CEO raking in a few million isn't ideal, but that's miniscule compared to the problems created by government sponsored wealth redistribution (which always moves upwards)

  7. Capitalism is like the road to fascism if America is the example. Democratic Socialism all the way!!

  8. Under socialism, the working people have democratic control over the means of production, and ownership over the products of their own labor. For the first time, a worker will have control over his own life. Everyone working at any given workplace will have a say in what needs to get produced, how it gets produced, and where it goes. Because there will be no "owner" of a factory, workers would get paid according to how much value they produce, rather than based on an hourly wage.

You could work twice as hard and work half the time you normally do, and still make a decent living. With technology already as advanced as it is, work hours could be reduced to a mere 3 hours a week.

Socialism is a society that is not only democratic politically, but economically and communally. It's an international economic and political system, there will be no more nation-states, just the planetary population, co-existing with the environment.

  9. One can argue anything with hyperlinks. Let's hear it in your own words, in direct response to my question. :p

That sounds like a beautiful dream, and personally, I see no reason to stop dreaming.

  10. The 10 planks of the communism manifesto are not criteria that a system has to meet for it to be communist. They were just basic transitional demands that would be recommended once a communist society was created, it's not a check list. The planks have been "fulfilled" because they were obvious demands based on basic human rights and common sense, not some secret plot to turn America communist. If it weren't for those planks, the working class would have revolted against the capitalists because the system would be so obviously rotten. Who would defend a system that does nothing for you? The regulations saved capitalism.

  11. Yeah, Chaohinion, I know you can't be wrong/falsifiable but seriously, are you sure that Marx meant for there to be "rules" or "planks" when he talked about the withering away of the state?

  12. In the midst, yes. Also directly benefiting from capitalism (though cost-effectiveness) too. But it still maintains a degree of autonomy from the "mainstream" system.

  13. Beauracrats, but of course.;)

  14. And where did the power to determine who they would be originate?
