In RLS, there's a great discussion of modern rap/hip-hop. What I did notice (besides some sparse shoutouts) was a perceived lack of interest in white rappers (not 1 single mention of the best selling artist since 2000- Marshall Mathers). What do you blades think of the up and coming white boy rappers like Logic and Mac Miller? The older guys like the hilltop hoods and atmosphere? Should we even be discussing white rappers separately from black rappers? I'd love to hear what you think.
Mac Miller is unquestionably the worst shit I've ever heard. There are plenty of solid white rappers though. ^^THIS. But why do you think that we discuss rappers and then WHITE rappers separately? Obviously some ridiculous talent.

Yelawolf, Rittz, Lil Wyte, Paul Wall are all some of the best rappers of today. Best thing next to that 90's shit. Riff raff, action bronson, and lil ugly mane. Thats pretty much it i think. Everybody else either sucks or is corny.
Mac Lethal is alright, but kind of gimmicky. Of course I have to mention Yelawolf though, love his flow.
I used to not be into rap at all... didn't think I would like any of it. Then I met a friend who listened to a lot of Aesop Rock, and I really liked that. Asked for some recommendations, heard about Buck 65, Sage Francis, Atmosphere, etc. Atmosphere is great but it's something I'm only in the mood for every once in a while, whereas Aesop, Buck, and Sage are cool almost anytime. It was a bit later that I realized all of those rappers I liked were straight up fucking white. But whatever, their shit just resonates with me more. Aesop especially, his lyrics are like poetry. I love it. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd_W_x3nclY[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK_cf1H3grc[/ame]

White rappers and black rappers tend to have different sounds. I don't think it's "racist" to point that out. I enjoyed many rappers for months without ever even knowing whether they were black or white... turns out that almost every rap artist I like is white. I suppose it's just a different sound that I enjoy.
I didn't know what race Immortal Technique was until I saw him freestyle in "Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap". I was pleasantly surprised.
Lol what? Nas and Lil Wayne sound completely different.. Aesop Rock and Eminem sound completely different. It isn't because of race..
I agree, I'm not saying that all white rappers sound the same or all black rappers sound the same. I was just explaining why I don't see anything wrong with talking about rappers of a specific race.
