Whatchya workin' with?

    I am shopping around for a new laptop (to use as a personal computer and for college stuff) I definitely know that I am a PC person, so that eliminates Mac (plus my university revolves everything around windows) sooo...

    Other than that I'm blank. I don't know where to start. I've been looking at Sony Vaio and various HP laptops. I currently have a Toshiba satellite series and I've never ever had problems with it but I want something a little more high performance. I don't want to spend more than $1500, I'm a poor college student so the better deal for the best machine is what I'm looking for, definitely.

    So, any ideas? What do you guys use?

    1500 could get you a really good gaming laptop. Try posting in the Silicon Valley section since they will know better than us.

    definitely build your own.

    I'm not quite computer savy but I know you can build a beast for 1500.

    It requires a bit of research and time, but I'm sure you can get some info from Geek Squad or the internet.

    I have an Hp Laptop, she purs like a kitten.

    $1500 for a BROKE college student??


    I'm a college freshmen and got my pretty sweet laptop for $600, normally 750. Brands really don't matter as much as they used to. Honestly though, $1500 is overkill..if you don't game that would be an outrageous amount of money.

    If you don't really game, just get a minimum of:
    -4 gigs of "DDR3 RAM" minimum
    -a good sized hard drive 300+gigs, more if you like to have a porn or movie or whatever else collection,
    -Dual core processor quad if you need it, if its Intel a minimum of an i5, but i'd look at i7 because you have a bigger wallet
    -64-bit if you decide to stay PC, it's becoming the new standard
    -Solid graphics card if you want to game

    You can really get a bangin' laptop for a grand or less and use the rest for spending money or savings..I'd type more but I got a skype date

    Ummm, I do game, I play WoW but this would be primarily for school. I don't want to spend 1500 but that's my MAX budget because it will be about all I have to spend.

    daaaam if you lived around me i could get you a 120 gig HP with playstation games and all kinds of shit for 100 dollars
