What is there worth living for?

Discussion in 'Philosophy' started by YEM, Jun 1, 2010.

  1. Life? Drugs? People? Music? Sports?

What is there worth living for?

  2. Beauty in Nature.

  3. anything that triggers endorphin release.

  4. to 'record' history

  5. all depends on what you are trying to make of it

  6. And what is it that you are making out of it?

  7. This is a much more interesting question, that ill need awhile to answer. I might not even post back but ill be sure to really think about it, thanks for giving me something to zone out and think about during class! Aha

  8. All depends on the day.....

Some days I make it a huge game! and have as much fun with it as I can.

    Some days I simply reflect....

But somewhere behind all the exterior shit...I am constantly trying to find how all the pieces fit together....

Sometimes the patterns are clear and easily defined....other time they simply dont fit together at all....

  9. Adventure. Just going out and seeing the diversity of life!

  10. Love
    Sex
    Friendship
    Music

  11. subway cookiesss

  12. i got a 10lb bag in my kitchen that i got to take home cause they were broken. thanks for reminding me i had them lol

  13. my pleasure, don't make yourself sick :p

  14. trying to find an answer to that question is worth living for

  15. We live because we have life...

Does there have to be a "worth" in that? If so -
take it for what it's worth... Life

If what you actually meant to say What is the purpose of life
my response to that would be, we as humans, create our own
    purpose.

    So here's what I'm thinking

    1) We have a life to serve others... To "leave" behind a legacy
(children, our establishments, business, social systems that
we have intertwined ourselves in that will continue to grow
    despite our physical demise)

    2) We acquire knowledge, and search for the "truth". Many times,
the acquisition of this knowledge helps with the point I mentioned
    above.

Also, I think "life" is about finding contentment with ourselves (or
in a Buddhist view of the word... Enlightenment).

When one is truly "enlightened" life is a beautiful gift, because you
see the world as an oyster of happiness rather than entangling your
emotions on things that only make you anxious/angry/depressed/etc.

An enlightened individual is more-or-less, always happy, and as MJ
smokers know, "Feeling Good" is simply great.... Why are people
afraid to die? Maybe because of the unknown, but I think is because
we don't want to cease to exist, we love the emotions we feel, whether
the good (love/happniess) or the bad (pain/suffering/death)

An enlightened individual, in my opinion, maximizes the good in
accordance to natural laws while minimizing the bad, in an effort
to one day completely eradicating it.

    i agree.

some days i feel great, and understand 100% why we are all here.then other days..i don't understand a fuckin thing,

    i agree also.

some days that makes 100% truth to me, then other days i'm confused beyond belief.
