It depends. Are you sapient? If so, you choose what to make of your life. You could be a doctor, a researcher, hell, you could be a mass murderer or a warlord. It's your choice because you're sapient. If not, just stick to reproducing and eating. That's all you're here to do.

Don't know don't care. Live your life the way that you can. (can't say the way you want it because nobodies that lucky) Don't search for a purpose but instead just do what makes you happy. Be the hero or the villain or both. Don't limit yourself, don't over push yourself. Nothing more sad than watching themselves strive to success only to get there as a bitter old person with nothing to show for their life than a span of work from cradle to the grave. At the same time it's just as bad to see someone laying on a couch day in and out. Play the hand you're dealt, and don't try to make sense of the gamble.
I think the purpose of life is to prepare you for the after life. God doesn't want dicks in heaven. Edit: oh yea, the meaning to life is 42. Duh
