I think I might have solved the mystery of washing machines... You know how you always are a sock or two short after laundry day? I do balive that the plug is just a cover up. Washing machines do not run on electricity. They run on socks!!!!!
skinner, i think you might be on to something. That is real the most logical reason i can think of. I have a drawer full of single socks.

perhaps we could conduct an experiment... try running your washing machine or dryer for a long time without ever putting a sock in it.... might not be conclusive as they might be able to run on electricity as a back up after all.
I think they're smarter than that. They probably have a sock store somewhere hidden away. But if anyone wants to sponsor me with a half years worth of socks, I'll conduct the experiment
Well, considering that I have more than a half-years worth of socks that don't match due to this phenomenon that you've discovered, I'd be willing to contribute to the experiment. maybe your right....where else would all the socks go?...there's one problem though...why would the washing machine dsicriminate between socks, meaning why would it only take one sock per pair?
no no no no, you guys have it all wrong on the 1 sock per pair! im sure at lesat some of you have seen the overrated movie Van Helsing? well, in the movie dracula says like "we only take what we NEED every once in a while", so the socks are just taking what they neeeeeed. mayhe they dont need a single sock to power itself, which is why sometimes youll put them in a wash and they'll come out with a hole in them; its because they have little power left but they think the people are onto them, cause they're paranoid tweakers (when they "wash" and make a fuckload of noise theyre just tweakin) that love dogfights so they only take a small amount of sock! but its the power BEHIND the washing machines that really want your socks. its the Nomadic Gnomes; theyre responsible for missing alcohol, porn, ect cauyse they're having a civil war and they need things to help them fight.
