My dad used to buy up large amounts of antiques and those old gold plated DuPont lighters were a dime a dozen as far as i can remember. Sometimes we'd find 5 of them in one drawer of an old cabinet. I kept a couple as a kid because i liked shiny stuff, but because they use a wick and flint just like a zippo, or at least the old ones did, they were a huge pain to get into working condition so kid-me never bothered trying to make them work again Tho the 1700$ one is probably a collectors piece or a limited edition, a fool and his money are soon parted.
