After fighting a seemingly endless battle with calmag problem, I have found this method to be extremely effective and cheaper than peanuts...... I use maxibloom KISS method with tap water at 90ppm ph 7.5. After adding maxibloom at the ratio of 1 tsp/gal + epsom at 1tsp/5gal, my solution ph would drop to 4.2-4.5, then I add my DIY ph UP solution to raise the ph to 5.5-5.6 which completes the trick Here is how I prepare the DIY ph up: prepare empty glass bottle, add 2-3 tblsp of pure calcium hydroxide which is very cheap and available everywhere... Then fill up the bottle with tap water, shake and let sit for a few hours....after the lime has settled on bottom of bottle, you'll get clear solution of extremely high ph and calcium solution... Use that solution SLOWLY to raise your nutes ph.... This way you are only adding clear solution with high ph and high calcium without the actual lime being added to your coco....unlike dolomite, I think this method is way safer for your medium ph stability.... DONE.... Very simple and cheap DIY calmag without any nitrate addition...
