using iron enriched well water, is it harmful or not?

I am wondering what the end result would be using extremely mineral laden water. Plant testing would probably be best huh?? as well as having the water tested?? How and what can be done to have the water tested??? The water is so bad you cant cook with it but could this be a good thing for herb?? All input is welcome. Thanks....
