Uruguayan President: Time "Not Ripe" for Marijuana Legalization - ABC News Just when i thought the world was moving in the right direction it takes a few steps back.
We'd have to read the Uruguayan bill to know its contents and ramifications if implemented. It seems very curious they want every marijuana user to "register" themselves with the government. Better believe I'd have reservations about that too if I lived there. Sometimes, even if a bill states its intent is to do "ABC," it really does "XYZ." Kinda like the drug war in general. I think promises have been made to S. American leaders to produce cannabis in a legal setting; more than likely, to provide pharma with plants for the new "super drugs." Our leaders have been busy in S. America. Just more jostling for profits. Obviously, the "poorest President in the world" is looking to cash in. "The people have to be educated." L-O-L.
Seems to me that he's waiting for the public to become more in favour of cannabis legalisation before putting the bill forward. More education may be needed?
