So I watched through this again with my kid a little while ago. That goddamn Ellie and Carl scene/montage...floored me when I first saw it, and has done it every. single. time. since. I tear up, I can't not. For an animated film to pack in so much everyday truth, beauty, love and have it all fall down around the main character is...kind of amazing...a lot of depth. So I was wondering...something I've never been able to figure out - perhaps kept purposely ambiguous? Was it implied in the initial medical/hospital scene that: Ellie had a miscarriage? They found out they were unable to conceive? I mean those are the two that come to mind, I've just never been able to put my finger on which one seems more likely in the situation. Thoughts? All the same...yeah, great movie...see it if you haven't.
Yea she had a miscarriage...its sad movie when you watch it really good. I seen this a few times an it made me feel down a little bit...its a good movie tho I will give it that. ~Toni~
