Unassigned IP and port forwarding

Discussion in 'Silicon (v)Alley' started by Vicious, Mar 17, 2012.

  1. I recently upgraded my internet and changed out my router. Since then I have been unable to access my router and forward ports. I try to access it and the default password doesn't work. After a hard reset it will let me in and forward the ports however it goes back to the previous settings shortly after.

Whenever I check my IP with >cmd/ipconfig, IPv4 is omitted and whenever I check it with a program it comes up 000.000.000 or ???.???.???. It does come back on websites like google or checkmyip but people cannot connect to it and I cannot host.

  2. Check out your IPv4 settings on your PC and make sure you dont have the box that enables/disables IPv4 unchecked. If it is checked, uncheck IPv6 since you dont need it right now and then go into the properties of IPv4. Check your static IP settings and make sure you have your DNS info filled out correctly as well.

If that is all good, then what model router do you have?
