Seeds were freebie for helping name the strain in a different forum. Thanks Dr. GreenThumb. Seeds packed in Docs directions, which I am going to follow as I have been killing seeds lately. One bean sitting on a wet (not dripping) paper towel Folded in half in a bag Covered for darkness, on a seed mat for warmth. This is a cross of Turkish Delight and Girl Scout Cookie, done by Doc GreenThumb. PEACe
Checked last night nothing, today we got action. Some Living Organic Soil, from the waiting to be reamended tote so I know it's not to hot for a seed. With the crappy luck I've had starting seeds lately, I will use this method till it gives me a reason not to. Putting in the seed with the tap root up seems counter productive to me, I'm figuring off to the side allows for some more growth, but does it make it more difficult for the helmet to push up. Thought? Here we go, now the wait till we see the soil break. PEACe
And we have lift off, took this last night. Super psyched not only for this new strain, but also the success I had with this seed, I have had horrible luck lately, and this overcomes that junk. PEACe
Sup man, nice job with the seed start. This looks like a cool cross. I was surprised to see the instructions you followed state that as well... I was always told tap root down, but reading articles suggest tap root to the side... And here you got some 10 and 2 instructions. I was reading through this the other day re seed stages and development... "In some plants, the section of the shoot below the cotyledons elongates and forms a hook, pulling the cotyledons and the growing tip through the soil. Once it reaches the surface, it straightens and pulls the cotyledons and shoot tip of the growing seedlings into the air. For example, beans germinate this way." A nice read if you have a few minutes. Seed and Seedling Biology (Start Farming)
Took these two days ago Topped off to help with the lanky, and raised it up a little closer to its sun Getting settled in nicely. PEACe
These are from last week, taken one week from the previous set. Newer ones on the way, just need to take them. PEACe
Taken last night, looks like it's time to trans plant, I think I'm going to its final container, just not sure what size I want. I don't plan to veg too long, just long enough to get a couple clones off. PEACe
From last night, went into new home couple days ago. Now to see what happens once its feet settle in. PEACe
Ok, been a while since I have updated here, well things got crappy. First, the garden has other items that take priority first and i got very busy with those priorities. This lead to dam mites, but again being busy I didn't fight them as aggressive as I should. This long battle seemed to be taking a toll on the plants, or as I currently believe my soil wasn't being nice. So after switching to some newer soil things started looking better, only to have those dam little spider bastard mites. Which I am currently battling again. However, Turkish Cookies fared ok, was the best looking during this time. She got flowered, cured and is currently one of my smoking options. I'm not much for describing tastes, but I find it uplifting with out the raciness that sometimes comes with the upbeat strains. I enjoy it and will continue to keep it in the garden. Sorry for the lack updates, I just didn't think it was fair to GreenThumb to show the plant when I couldn't keep up with it. Sent from my iPad using Grasscity Forum
