Infrastructure is already there, I'm not talking about any "what ifs" this is how it is, right now. Compare it to the phone companies, there a extra set of wires for AT&T or Verizon, nope Government passed regulations to make them play nice and share. Actually in NYC ConEd power bills apparently have an explanation on how to find out about alternative energy suppliers.. ConEd of course holds the largest amount of customers as they are basically the "default" company for that area and most people don't even have a clue there are other options available to them so they take in most of the business.
Ok so the government PAID for the infrastructure then? (and presumably pays the building of NEW infasturcture?) Like I said there are cases when government intervention is ok to allow the market to be competive. And I don't get the point of the last part? so what if people are lazy and don't look for cheaper alternatives. Thats there choice not to spend extra time searching. IF ALL people looked for the cheapest solution and used it then the company with the lowest rates would ultimately drive out it's competitors.
a lot of those things are the result of collaboration which is something we should encourage but no, instead you'd prefer to just say "suck it, conservatives" for no god damned reason. i don't what the picture looks like from your angle, but from here it looks like you're no less of a problem than the worst conservative.
First of all, way to miss the point on my comment, and yes, in a pure free market there will still be a demand for security. I fact, a free market police will be held more accountable for the actions because any action of brutality could mean negative PR and a loss of coutomers.
