What are your opinions on concept albums vs. standard/conventional albums. Do you feel that a unifying idea tends to hurt/help the quality of the actual songs across an album, or not at all?
Depends on the band/artist really. There have been some great concept albums - also have been some shitty ones. Even if the album has a concept - the songs should be unique and interesting.
