  1. That's a lot of money.

    That's 6 million dollars.

Put it this way, if you were in Steve Jobs position. You wouldn't want to pay anymore taxes. And before you reply saying, yeah I would. Let me call you a liar.

Yes it is alot of money. I love how you are an all knowing economist who lives in every state and has worked every job provided by Steve lol.

ALSO, no one ever mentions this. His corporation payed 6 mil, not including all of his employees separately, or himself.

  4. What are you smoking? lol No they don't. They pay the lowest in the history of this country. Sorry.... but that is just the facts. Not the only thing wrong with this country... just one of the many. Another huge problem is anti-socialist who take advantage of government programs. Go figure, right?

  5. Why bust up a monopoly then? Standard Oil kicked some ass. lol

  6. I would, if I liked what the government did with it.
If I had 40 million, I would give at least half of it away. I would probably give 30 million away and live comfortably off my 10 million for the rest of my life.

Just like the taxes I pay is the government's money? The point I'm trying to make here is that once you get taxed, that goes towards bettering society. If you want to not pay taxes, you'll see the effect. The subsidies they get is government's money. What do you think a bailout is? It's when they cut funding from non-profit seeking organizations, and couple it with taxpayer money to help pay for their loss in profit.

The problem is that there are not only loopholes, but subsidies for them to fall back on, and not to mention their tax breaks. Therefore, they haven't been paying their share in over 10 years. The Bush Tax Cuts made sure of that.
Taxpayers. That means anyone who pays taxes. In short, me and you.

Hey, I think Glenn Beck said that once. Mind you, I don't hate the upper class. Why should I? I just want fairness, is all. Since you guys are so about balancing the fucking budget, why don't you help?

    Pick one.
    Good.
You and I are very much alike. For that very reason, I will dismiss your responses.

If you're referring to Europe, then don't bother. There's hardly a connection when it comes to this topic. That has more to do with the European Union and the value of the Euro than anything else. Otherwise, you'd be onto the strawman.

But I'm not lazy, so keep your unfounded personal attacks to yourself. You don't see me assuming anything about you aside from the fact that you're being an asshole.

What? What are you accusing me of? I'm confused here.

No fucking duh. It's because of shit like this. This is why they continue to get richer, for the very reasons I've stated. You want to accuse me of not knowing enough? That's hilarious.

    What's your point?

You should learn the definition of 'hypocrite'.

So, you're saying that anyone who's not in the top 1% fails at economics. Good one.

Because we need to generate revenue?

You can act as Holy as you want on these forums, but I highly doubt you would do that bullshit.

Let's say he has to pay this.
    25% of 40 million = 10 000 000

Is it acceptable that he has to fucking pay 1/4 of his revenue in taxes?
Hell no it isn't... Once again bitch all you want, solve nothing.

  9. You can doubt all you want, you don't know me.
I don't believe I deserve to live like a king, no matter how hard I work or how smart I am. I don't need a 100 million dollar mansion and 5 cars. There are people in this world who work 16 hour shifts for like 2 dollars a day. I would rather help them out than blow money on insanely expensive clothes and champagne.
You can call it bullshit, I call it humanity.

  10. So the only way to help out humanity is through taxes? lol I bet if you had $100 million you'd rather pick how you want to help humanity (ie which charities you would contribute to) as opposed to just giving your money to the government with the false hope that they might actually use it to better humanity. If you think giving more money to the government will fix all the problems you might want to take a history course.

  11. I pay more than 25%!

  12. Fuck no, I never said the only way to help humanity is through taxes. Especially if you're an American. You're right, I would much rather help humanity through charity. I never said otherwise.
Like I said I would be willing to pay a lot of taxes, IF I like what the government is doing with it.

  13. Flat tax rate, same percentage for all.
    No tax cuts
    No loopholes
    No subsidies
    No bailouts
    No more corps as entities
No more laws that favor any class/'race'/religion/sex/perversion

I had a multi-page reply built up to the OP's post...decided it would be a waste to click 'submit' as too many well trained sheep have already come forth to praise the wealthy and proclaim how the 1% deserve more than the rest...because they are rich.

    Percentages seem to be the theme, so;

How about the following graphs being dug up and presented (they are out there) Lets see graphs for all income levels of people, companies and corps. From the zero to the multiBillion levels!

tax paid / gross income = % of income for taxes
tax paid / net income = % of income for taxes

No excuses of "trickle down", history has shown us all it has never fucking worked!

  14. ah ok, good. I see so many people on here (and in this thread) that think making the rich pay more taxes will make humanity better. Its rather disturbing that people think this way

  15. I see we agree on many things, but I must ask you a question. How does a "flat tax" system balance the fact that a poor person pays a way higher percentage of their wage for everyday shit? The reason I ask this was because I used to be on the side of flat tax until I realized the imbalance. I think a lot of people would gladly give up 40-50% if it meant in return they did have to worry about healthcare and shit like a pot hole ripping the fucking bottom of your car off.

  16. It's very disturbing that people think 1% should not pay the same percentage of their income in taxes...because they are rich.

Fuck the bullshit spin of 'more' ...people want the 'rich' to pay the same PERCENTAGE!
Last time I looked 25% was 25% no matter how you try to spin it...same as 10% is not equal to 25%...no matter how you continue to claim it is..
I can wage those following the 'give the rich more' shepherds, are young, most likely in college, and read new course books full of the same FUD...

For those kiddies, go find OLD books on law, on economic, on political science (old as in 100 years ago, not 5 years, not 10 years...) Then compare them to current text books...you will see a difference on what was, and now is being taught is 'right' for each subject.

  17. I think its HILARIOUS when people defend the top 2% of wealthy people in this country. As if they WORKED to get where they are. Maybe a very small percentage did, but most where either born with the right last name OR they simply have no morals and will lie cheat and steal to get to the top.

I myself work my ass off every day and make a pretty good living 50k - 80k (single guy no kids) a year. I SEE with my own eyes what it takes to be successful in this country, and its sad. Its gotten to the point that if u arent willing to be a total piece of shit liar for a company, that they will just hire someone else to do the job, and the better a liar u are the more they will pay u.

So MOST of those top 2% are just greedy assholes that couldnt give 2 shits about the rest of us. They simply want to get what they can while the getting is good. Once there run is over they will turn away and never look back.

  18. If taxes were increased on the very wealthy, it would just give them more incentive to hide funds overseas or in strange financial devices.

If taxes are increased on corporations, they would just end more jobs over seas.

But that's not why I'm replying. Its about the flat tax.

The Flat Tax would pretty much fix America, but it will never happen because Congress derives 90% of its power form being able to levy taxes.

It is not outrageous that the top 1% control a huge amount of wealth, they are the top 1%, they won the game.

  19. The Flat tax however is far from flat my friend.

  20. I think you misunderstood me, I'm all for an "equal" tax system, one that says everyone pays the same percentage of taxes on their income. You make $1mill a year you pay 20%, you make $20k a year you pay 20% (I'm just throwing 20% out there, not necessarily the optimum percentage). What I can't agree with is the concept that someone should pay a higher percentage of taxes because they have more wealth and can "afford" to give it up. I really wish we would consider eliminating all income tax and go to a national sales tax, but that's a different discussion
