The Real 007 Dead - Sean Connery @ 90

Discussion in 'Movies' started by Vee, Nov 1, 2020.

  1. The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, being the first to
bring the role to the big screen and appearing in seven of the spy thrillers.

Sir Sean died peacefully in his sleep in the Bahamas, having been "unwell for some
    time", his son said.

His acting career spanned seven decades and he won an Oscar in 1988
for his role in The Untouchables.

Sir Sean's other films included The Hunt for Red October, Highlander,
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.

Jason Connery said his father "had many of his family, who could be in the Bahamas,
around him" when he died overnight in Nassau. Much of the Bond film
    Thunderball had been filmed there.

He said: "We are all working at understanding this huge event as it only
happened so recently, even though my dad has been unwell for some time.

"A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people
around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor."

His publicist Nancy Seltzer said: "There will be a private ceremony followed by
a memorial yet to be planned once the virus has ended."

He leaves his wife Micheline and sons Jason and Stephane.

Sir Sean Connery's widow Micheline Roquebrune has confirmed that the late James Bond star had been diagnosed with dementia.

Sir Sean, who starred in films including Dr No, From Russia with Love and Goldfinger,
died aged 90 in the Bahamas on Friday.

"It was no life for him," Roquebrune told The Mail on Sunday.

"He had dementia and it took its toll on him. He got his final wish to slip away without any fuss."

She added the actor "was not able to express himself" in the period leading up to his death.
Sir Sean and Roquerbrune, a Moroccan-French painter, married in 1975.

Roquerbrune told the newspaper: "At least he died in his sleep and it was just so peaceful. I was with him all the time and he just slipped away. It was what he wanted."

She added it would would be "very hard without him" and described him as a "model of a man".

  10. When that film came out, it was huge. The song was all over the radio, the book was repackaged and sold in paperback everywhere. James Bond toys were marketed to kids, secret agent movies became very popular. I Spy with (now imprisoned) Bill Cosby, Danger Man (in England)/ Secret Agent (US name), etc. Mel Brooks produced the show, Get Smart, about a dim-witted secret agent named Maxwell Smart, with Don Adams. They even had a Western "spy" show, The Wild Wild West. Crooner Dean Martin starred in a series of Matt Helm spy films, etc. There's simply too many examples, to even list here.
