I have been tending to them each day. I noticed the new growth is getting "The Claw"! These plants have PH water at 6.5 and had calmag about 7 days ago. Can they bounce back from "The Claw"? Or is it game over? Hopefully it is reversible. Many thanks Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Flush well with air temp, ph water allow to drain over night or in dim light no nutes until you see a positive improvement perhaps a potup would improve things you decide good luck
Thanks for the reply. I am using this Dutch Janeco Light Mix. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Heat stress or too dry soil can cause this sometimes. Ive noted this on mine when soil got too dry, thereby allowing present heat to stress more. In my cases usually just on smaller/younger plants mostly
The only strain I had that happen to me time and time again was a Grapefruit Kush. I tried so many different soil mixes and I ended up with the same result. Then the day before I was going to trash the last plant I had, my Humidity Control Controller went haywire, I had it set for 45% low, 50% high, but for some reason it was on 65% low, 70% high and when that happened, I noticed all the claw dissapeared. So from that I conculed that if I was using a high content nitrogen mix, I needed to make sure my humidity during veg was 60% or greater. When talking about that problem with an old farmer that has been farming for over 70 years, he said that some plants can't handle the amount of nitrogen that is in the soil, so the plant locks out all the nutrients, but when you up the humidity the plant takes in that moisture through it's leaves which sort of forces the plant to push that excess mositure back towards the roots, thus freeing the nutrient lock up. Now, I don't know how true that is, but I can say that I don't have that trouble growing my Grapefruit Kush anymore, and just to test that theory, I have lowered my RH, and the claw appears again, so there must be some truth to Old Farmer Hathaway's theory! But the problem is definitely related to the high level of nitrogen in your medium causing the nutrient lockout.
Thanks for your replies guys! I have looked into nitrogen toxicity, but not so much the humidity! Thanks for the advice, I shall take it on board an up the humidity, I'm at 45% at the mo! Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
