SWIM has a 4x4x7 tent with an air cooled XXXL hood running 1000w hps. Ballast is located outside of tent. He is running a can-lite filter ducted to the hood, then to a 430 cfm centrifugal fan, then outside. Venting is accomplished via passive vents at bottom of tent. SWIM use to run 32 (23w) cfl's and temps stayed around 80, now with the hps, temps stay around 85 during lighted hours, and 72 in the dark. Ambient temps outside of tent are 72, SWIM just can't seem to get his temp down to 80 or under even after using a 4"can fan (155 cfm) as an active intake, temps stay around 83 and all negative pressure is lost. Any help is appreciated. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Could always try raising one side of the tent so that the whole lower side of tent on one side is a couple of inches off the floor to allow maximum unrestricted airflow.
You can try a separate fan to cool the hood. Draw air from outside, through the hood, and back outside. No need for a filter so better airflow through the hood. Then a second fan/filter to extract smelly spent air from the tent outside...
