So I’m thinking of making the switch to 96 elites in my 2x4 tent any recommendations on driver. I would like to be able to dim it down for efficiency but also would like to run some autos in there with my vegging photos Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Hlg320h-54a You can even add a 3rd one down the road to run them cooler and not give up spread. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Ok sounds good I don’t know anything about dimming them so what do I need to read up on as far as dimming current and voltage Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I'm not sure where to read about it but if you want to take full advantage of the dimming possibilities you will want to get a lux meter. With it you'll be able to measure your light levels and determine placement for the most even spread. Here's a place to start Converting Lux to PPFD & Measuring Lux with Smartphone And here is the cheap lux meter alot of us use Dr.Meter LX1330B Digital... www.amazon.com/dp/B005A0ETXY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I have the dr. Lux meter for my 320 r spec but it only has one dimmer not two Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I still use just the io adjust mainly. If you get to the bottom of the io adjust and still want to go dimmer than you can use the vo adjust. io adjust is the current vo adjust is the voltage Thats how I do it anyway. Are you switching out the r-spec for 96s?
No moving my r spec into another tent with 4qb 132s for full coverage and wattage per square foot and running the 96s in my veg/ auto tent Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
very interested in what you decide on and your reasons for your choice. I also have a 2 x 4 tent and currently running qb132's. looking to upgrade and fairly set on the qb96elites. but rather than 2 actually thinking of 4 of them. My thinking was with 4 I would be able to run them dimmed most of the way down to reduce and preferably eliminate heat and yet still get good coverage and light levels. I know 4 96's in a 2x 4 would be complete overkill but also thinking of the future and I'm planning a larger tent so these would get re-purposed anyway. was considering the hlg-240h-54a, one on each 96. The room the tent is in is already usually an ambient temp of 74-80f so keeping the lights heat output low to zero is imperative - the main reason I chose the QB132's originally.
Yea I have another larger tent that I will be running my 320r spec and the 4 132s in and probably just going to go with 2 96s for now maybe later on down the road make a switch and get more 96s and put them in my bigger tent Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
The room my tent is in is usually around 68-70 so using negative pressure and a fan inside circulating air I never have a problem with temps Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
when i get a bigger tent it will be in a cooler spot and I plan on than using the 96's cranked up higher to help heat it. at least that is the game plan in my head. unless I come across a better one
My plan is to add two of them in parallel with my 320r spec and then add two more Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
How do you like the 320xl Rspec? I am currently running two saber 100s and will be adding the 320 in the middle. If temps allow then two more sabers.
I love it so far this is my first grow with it so can’t really say on results yet I will be harvesting my first in about 2-3 weeks so will update on how it performed. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
You will want to pay attention to what series driver it is, A or B. There is a final suffix to the Meanwell HLG power supply part nomenclature. It designates its dimming function. For example, HLG-60H-24-A refers to Type A dimming, while HLG-60H-24-B refers to Type B dimming. Many prefer B as it allows more dimming options, and you can use Cased Potentiometer with Knob with it.
You could potentially run two on a meanwell 600h-54a in parallel and they would be fine with a fan on the heatsink. The max rated current of that board is 4200mA with passive cooling and 6000mA with active fan cooling.
