Stoicism

  1. Anyone a conscious or unconscious participant in stoicism? One book I'm reading currently is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Its pretty much a series of Aurelius' personal writings on Stoicism and Stoic philosophy. Stoicism has always been interesting philosophy to me and one I can really identify with. I feel that there's too much bullshit in the world to get bogged down by so I pretty much exercise stoicism on a daily basis.

  2. Guilty as charged. Just gotta roll with the punches man.

  3. Even Bogie would have a nice strong drink every now and then.

  4. You might wanta read Enchiridion by Epictetus. I liked it, just as I liked Meditations, but I dont care much for other Stoic thinkers. They seemed like they lived very, very boring lives.

  5. Definitely a big part of my personal philosophy.

Same. A combination of Buddhism and Stoicism is what I'm working with so far :D

    They're really damn similar.

Vipassana meditation with Stoic psychological/analytical methodology really allows you to appreciate life a lot more :smoke:

  7. Funny you said that because Stoicism is very similar to confucianism and taoism.
