Steakbomb's Quantum Closet

  1. Flowers are still tiny but getting bigger. Stretch is continuing too, but certainly zero risk of running out of height. Can't wait to see how we look in another week!

  2. Dam fine looking girls, Steak! They're gonna explode in the next few weeks! Your excellent bottom defol is how the power gets to the tops! What's the ppm and ph of your res? I forgot.

  3. TDS currently at 910 (500 scale) but climbing 10ish each day so I may dial it down a bit.

pH is at 6.1 today - usually gets to 5.6-5.8 by the end of a week, then when I do a soup change it gets back to 6.2 or so.

Have you tried raising the ph to 7ph for the last 3 weeks? I did and they took on some bulk from the absorption of higher ph nutrient pathways. Testing a 10,000K bulb for the finishing couple of weeks. Supposed to bring on resin production by blasting UV and stress causing them to respond with flower protecting trichomes! Buncha old pics too. DSCN6177.JPG DSCN6212.JPG DSCN6293.JPG DSCN6959.JPG DSCN7686.JPG DSCN6979.JPG DSC_0047.JPG DSCN6312.JPG DSCN6735.JPG DSCN7671.JPG DSCN7669.JPG

  5. I have not tried that - is that a hydroponic-friendly method? 7 seems high for hydro, but the results look good on yours for sure!

  6. So my dehumidifier decided to crap out on me - wonderful. I was hoping the coils freezing over could be sorted out just by thawing it, but a couple hours after firing it back up it had the same issue.

I did wind up replacing it but what a pain in the ass!

  7. Another weekend, another session of working in the cab. The plants had used about 6 gallons of soup since the last water change on Sunday.

Earlier this morning I added 6 gallons of plain water, then around noon took out 8 gallons of the diluted solution and added back 8 gallons of fresh mix. New solution is a little stronger than last week, and we now have Sweet in there too.

Fired up the side bars now that stretch is done, and did some minor defol to expose bud tips. These buds are looking like they are gonna get nice and fat!

7ph might be a little high for your dwc but it works good in dirt/ coco because the medium kinda buffers it down to 6.5 or so. The slightly higher ph in the last few weeks seems to fatten the buds a little. Maybe you could go to 6.5 or so. I haven't done dwc so I don't know if it would work well or stress them into herm. Your plants look so healthy and nice that you prolly don't need to change anything! What kind of dehumidifier do you have? Mine is in the room with the grow tent and works for the whole room. 9. Old one was a Frigidaire. Seems like there was a refrigerant leak because it was definitely not cold enough down there for the coils to be freezing over.

New one is a Pure Air or something like that - looks pretty similar to yours. Got it in the basement with the cabinet & so far its working well.

  10. Nice! It's about to the time of year to fire up the humidifier for the veg kids! Rh gets down into the 30's here in winter and I like 60-70% for the babies. 30-40% is fine for flower.

  11. Checked in on the cab - these buds are looking mighty fine for 24 days in to flower.

  12. Had to do a 4 gallon top-off last night. The solution consumption rate is going up, and it also seems like they are finally starting to draw down the nutes too -- rather than TDS going up by 10pts per day, it's now dropping by 10-20.

Got it sitting at ~910 at the moment (EC of 1.82). By this weekend they'll have used another 4-6 gallons and I'll top off with stronger solution, shooting for ~1000/2.0.

  13. Well... the starter tent has been quiet for too long. Let's fix that!

  15. Couple pics from today - the buds are continuing to swell and these plants are really starting to use the nutes - TDS is dropping 20 points a day now. I'll dial it up this weekend...

  16. This is such a great grow to watch! The almost sterile environment, the perfect scrog height and what else... Oh yeah! That sea of gorgeous tops! Haa!

  17. Weekend maintenance done in the cab. Trimmed a bunch of leaves to make sure airflow stays good everywhere. Swapped the left/right plant positions, but didn't rotate anyone today - I wanted buds that had been near the edges of the cab to get some good light this week.

Also did a water change - took out 2 gallons and added 8 gallons. They've used 10 gallons this week compared to having used 6 last week! These buds are fixing to get FAT...

We also have an early lead in the clone contest. The right seed has sprouted. I've still asked a buddy who made a mother plant from a Utopia Haze clone I gave him last year to get a trio ready. Might just go with those so I can get the hazes into bloom sooner...

  19. Quick bud shot from this morning. Starting to see a few orange hairs showing up.

Apparently I got a little heavy-handed with the water change last weekend - topped off with plain water today to keep the TDS more stable.

  20. New bottles of pH probe calibration solution arrived today - about time! My cab monitor and my pen both needed to be recalibrated. (I'm sure the tent monitor needs it too, but I'll do that when I'm gonna fire the tent up)...

The probe for my res recalibrated no problem - it wasn't even off from being correct, actually! My pen is being finnicky - I think it may have dried out... I'd have it in a beaker with the calibration solution and let it calibrate, and after a few seconds the reading would start to drift again.
    20181023_160116.jpg
Got it sitting in some probe storage solution now - gonna try to see if it will rehydrate and then calibrate properly in 24hrs or so. If not, I will probably be seeing if this thing is still in warranty...
