I finally joined today after lurking for many years. I have a new strain from Ethos Genetics, and after vegging from seed, I’m super impressed with the Rainmaker strain. Thick stems, tight nodes, and with training, produces a wide bush with many bud sites. Not to mention it’s tested out to up to 34% THC and is a cross between Citral Skunk and Mandarin Sunset. I do love my Skunks!!!!

    My setup is as follows:

-4x4 Flower area on slanted table with gutter for runoff.
-600 watt HPS, 1500 watt King LED (286w draw), and 100 watt MH, (2) 100 watt cfls or reptile lights for the UV later on.
-1 gallon pots pure coco with 1” of rock on bottom for drainage and counterweight.
    -7 GWS and 5 Rainmaker
-DTW twice a day in flower with drip manifold
-Veg under 24” 12 bulb T5 fed once a day by hand

My nutrient mix for veg per 5 gal.

    2g mag sulfate
    4g masterblend base
    4g calcium nitrate
    30 ml ProTekt silica
    Few drops Superthrive
    2ml Drip Clean
    Tsp SP-90 Humic Acid
Ph to 5.5 and rises to 5.8

I eliminate the protekt and add Flower Fuel after the stretch in flower. At $35 for 12.5# of nutes, I’m growing strawberries, lettuce, and herbs indoors, and tomatoes and peppers in DWC with the same mix.

Here are a few pics to show the stages of growth so far.

Here is a shot from today. 5 Rainmakers and a GWS on the left, 4 days into flower. 6 GWS almost 3 weeks into flower on the right.

  2. I have (3) Gorilla Glue #4 x White Widow in veg along with (2) Orange Skunk and a Black D.O.G. The GG x WW are showing either a cal or mag deficiency so I upped the calcium nitrate to 6g and the mag sulfate to 3g. Also doing a foliar of mag sulfate and Humic acid and sneaking an extra feed in when I can to try to get some more cal and mag into them. The other strains are looking fine. About another week or so of stretch in the flower room before more heavy defoliation. These 6 seedlings will be my next batch and after a 3 month veg should be monsters.

  3. The next round in veg needed some room so the clones went down a shelf under some cfls. I spread out the GG4xWW (front three) Orange Skunk, and Black DOG seedlings (back three) always LST’ng to open them up. Still trying to correct a mag deficiency with the GG’s. They are magnesium whores!!!
76A69765-7915-4832-9AE8-A85C88D485F4.jpeg The White Shark is stacking trichs daily. Almost 3 weeks in and she’s an 8 week strain on the money. A nice rotting fruit smell is starting to ease its way into the room.

The stretch is in full effect for the Rainmakers on the left!! The multi feeds and starting the flower cycle have really kicked them into gear. About another 10-14 days and the stretch should be over and the next defoliation of the room begins.

  4. Had some time today so I went ahead with the defoliation on the Rainmakers and GWS. I took a heaping tray of leaves off all the girls. Probably another defoliation in a few weeks for the Rainmakers, but the GWS should be good to the finish line.

The Rainmakers are really stretching, good thing I have the height in here. Flowers are starting to show nicely, and the couple phenos with short node spacing look like they will be great yielders. The ones in the back have longer node spacing and definitely stretched more under the HPS.

The GWS continues to bulk up on two feeds at about 500 ppm per day. Now about a month into flower. I really do love growing this strain as they like light nutrients and just end up covered in trichs at the finish

The room is filling up but still plenty of air circulating around. Have to keep the door open to keep temps around 80 this time of year.

The GG#4 x WW, Orange Skunk, and Black D.O.G. girls in veg all got a light haircut, as well as a flush with some nutrient tea, made with ewc, kelp meal, alfalfa meal, molasses, sp-90 Humic acid, chicken manure, and recharge. Ph was creeping up to 900 on runoff but the flush brought it back down to under 600 as well as adding the bennies back to the medium.

  8. Thanks. I’m excited to see the Black DOG flower out. Unfortunately only one out of the three sprouted so I’m hoping for a nice dark pheno

  9. so how have your uv lights improved your over all THC count or have they, i was gonna grab one for last 2 weeks of flower but wasnt sure which light to get or if it even helped?

  10. I would have to say the difference is marginal at best. At least with the reptisun bulbs I have. Those are 100 watt equivalent cfls in there now. Just experimenting with different lighting. Will probably add the UV bulbs to the GWS girls finishing up on the right in a week or so to try again

  11. Had to raise the GWS ladies up to match the stretch of the Rainmakers. The Rainmakers under the LED didn’t stretch as much and kept tighter node spacing on the mains.

The girls in veg had their breakfast and some light defoliation and LST this morning. Clones for my buddy’s outdoor grow are just about ready for him in the lower veg cabinet. The gnats showed up in force this weekend so I deployed the yellow stick traps. Definitely seeing a lot less now but will probably do a h2o2 drench in the next couple days to kill any eggs or larvae

  12. I posted this on another page but figured it belonged here as well. The first pic is from May 31st after a heavy defoliation, after week one of flowering. The second pic is from today, June 8th. Notice they have filled in due to the stretch but not so thick as to block the light from reaching the lower growth. This has resulted in noticeable bud growth all the way down to the lowers. I’m really happy with this strain.

  14. Thank you. It makes life so easy mixing nutes once every 10 days or so and the 2-3 times a day really bump the growth.

  16. Getting ready to transplant the Orange Skunks and Black D.O.G. From one gallon pure coco to 3 gallons of Tupur with about an inch of river rock in the bottom and on top to help drain and keep gnats away. They just finished week 4 of veg. I’m going to veg these for another 2-3 weeks while the White Sharks finish up then move them into flower with the Rainmakers.

  19. did you try some dolomite lime for the mag deficiency or something else?

    • Like Like x 2
  20. Lime would raise my ph too much. 5.8-6 is the sweet spot in coco. The nutrients I use have calcium nitrate and magnesium sulfate. I just upped the dosage and added a foliar spray of Epsom salts. Stopped the foliar spray about a week ago and seeing slight deficiency again so I’ll probably add some calmag and another foliar spray
