Smart Phones

  1. Hey blades,

I've been living in Mexico for the last two years and am SO excited to get back to the states and get a smart phone and a tablet. I'm an apple enthusiast, so my last smart phone was the iphone 3gs. I've never had a tablet.

The plan was to get an iphone, and then either an ipad or the windows 8 tablet.

Wondering if anyone would go with the Samsung Galaxy instead (for the phone) and what people think of tablets.

I'd really like to hear conversion stories of people who have used one and now use the other so I can get a good comparison. My reasons for questioning are because if I could save money and be just as happy, I want to do that.

    Thanks!

  2. All smart phones are practically the same. Except apple which will always be crap and outdated. And why get a tablet and smartphone? A tablet is just a smartphone but bigger and you can't call.

  3. Go GS4, better than iPhone in just about every way.

As for tablets, can't really help you there because I don't know too much about them.

Agreed. And come on, are you not gonna listen to Theweedman??

The Note 2 was great! Idk when the 3 is coming out, but do your research OP. Phones have a tendency to flip flop between versions.

Also, fuck Apple. Steve Jobs is dead. It's no longer Apple. Now it's just ple, and that's how every device forthcoming from 'Apple' will be.

  10. Lemme say something nice about the iPhone...

At least the OS is pretty much the same as your 3gs you had years ago, so there won't be a learning curve except the ever-so-laggy siri.

The phone screen has increased 0.5 inch!!!!

Oh, oh, oh you get panorama camera now! After Android 4.0 first introduced it. It's only like 2.5 years late, but hey, they put it in a commercial, so it must be cOoL!

All jokes aside, iPhone still had the best build quality, and when you do decide to sell it on Craigslist when you upgrade to a new phone, it'll still sell for the most money.

Pretty fond of my ZTE avid.  The camera sucks ass compared to my samsung admire, which has an awesome camera.

It DOES, however take flash photography, and can function as a torch light to take videos in the dark.

Before this, when I would night-fish, i had to hold a flashlight, my fish, and the phone to snap a photo.  ugh.

The avid also runs netflix fine, while the admire struggled to even load any shows.  every once in a while, the admire would allow a show to run here and there, but just stopped working altogether.

  12. Im not going to hate on apple. I have a iPhone 5 and a iPad and I really enjoy them both.

  13. Wait for the note 3. Phone and a tablet..also 3gb of RAM is nothing to frown at

  14. Hows the battery life? People tell me the 5 dies at 5% but they probably have a lot running in the background. Are you jailbroken?

  15. Yeah... I already know I like apple.  So all these "fuck apple" posts don't quite make sense to me.  Maybe some more info as to why I should fuck them?

    @[member="Perking_Duck"] thanks!

@[member="Elitist"] I guess you'll just have to trust that have a good reason to want both.

  16. Mines not too bad actually. I have to charge it every night like most people. I play games and text and I still have pretty good battery life , though it does get pretty low near the end of the day but I also keep my brightness pretty low. My phone is not jail broken as of now but I may jail break it soon. I love my phone and I am happy that I got it

  17. Apple has a shitty, locked down os that you can't customize anything on. It's built to be very simple.

Android based os's are much more customizable, this means flashing new roms, changing literally anything about your phone, installing more apps because they don't have to go through Apple's nazi certification program, wifi tethering, ability to root and debloat, over or under clock...

That's not everything, just some stuff off the top of my head. Most new androids have much superior hardware, also.

Plus you can get porn on android.

  18. If your looking to go the android route I'd seriously recommend the htc one. I've had mine a few months now and love it. The one thing I always liked about apple products was the build quality and this is easily on par with the iphone 5, the s4 feels so cheap in comparison but the specs are near enough the same. It just depends what you want really, a simple os that just works and you already know how to use or something you can really sink your teeth into and have a play around.

I wasn't a massive fan of the stock software but it's by far the best sense based rom I've used. So you may want to change that at some point but there are quite a few people who like it as it is.

  19. I also have an HTC and swear by the build quality of these things. iPhones are very nice but so over-rated.

  20. I'd say for android go either GS4 or HTC One...

Both are great phones, the GS4 has a higher clicked processor but the phones use the same chipset, I think.

It honestly comes down to personal choice between these two; HTC One has better speakers, the GS4 has some useful software, etc. I ended up going with GS4 because at the time the HTC One wane available in Verizon.
