Sickle Cell and Cannabis

    My best friend has sickle cell anemia. he has been in the hospital a number of times before for his disease. happened more often when we were in middle school and high school. he hasnt been in the hospital for about 2 years now. Then 2 days ago, the sickle cell started to act up. went to the hospital like normal but today they moved him to the ICU department. Later tonight he had to get a blood transfusion to prevent the risk of organ damage. So this is the worse he's ever been.

    the last time he smoked was 4/20. so i dont believe it had anything to do with his condition. I also told his doctor this and she agreed that it played no part with his crisis.

    I know that in states with medicinal marijuana, they can be subscribed to people with sickle cell. I also know that any type of smoke isnt good for a person with blood or heart conditions.

    I dont know if he will still be wanting to use weed when he gets better(praying that he gets his health back). but if he does choose to continue to toke up, Im just concerned that the smoke will cause him trouble.

    I know the safe alternative would be edibles, but what about vapor? I know vapor is not bad for lungs, but i dont know about the blood.

    No - if anything it would probably help with the pain. I'd recommend vapor and edibles, since smoking isn't the best for anyone.
