Sick Plant needs some help

    Heres a few pictures of a plant i have. I got it from a neighbor that needed it to be worked on. Its been out side in good weather most of summer, and theres not many leaves on it and from looking at it i cant really tell how long its been growing for.. Its about 6-7 feet tall.

    Uhhhhh.....................perhaps I'm just seeing it wrong, but I don't even think that is weed. What are the spiny looking stems sticking way up from the tops? I've never seen structures like that on any kind of marijuana.
