There are many ways of keeping a plant small, including, LST, SCROG and Topping. Another thing you might want to consider is growing AutoFlower plants. Im planning to plant 3 AutoFlowers within the next few days.
Yeh as what was said above. Try keep the light as close as possible without burning. Veg for a few weeks and flower a bit early in order to keep the plants that litlle bit smaller. LST, scrog, topping and fimming all keep the plant low. People want to keep a plant low for several reasons. First, many indoor grows have limited vertical height. Second, the plant will get more light this way under artificial light because more of the plant can stay closer to the light when the plant grows out horizontally rather than vertically.
