SCROG - Flipping to Flower Opinions

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by GrowYrOwn, Jul 27, 2019.

  1. Hello fellow growers. Long time hydro grower, first time SCROG grower. Been a while since I've grown again. Here's my setup. 4'x8'x7' tent. Made my own DWC Undercurrent System. Two plants in 5g buckets. The plants own one half of the tent, equipment owns the other. All the proper goodies for growing the best, water chiller, CO2 system, automated ventilation, etc. The two plants came from 2 seeds that were in a feminised 5 pack from DNA Genetics, Holy Grail OG. I underestimated the Punnett Square and wound up with two opposite plants. The one on the left is mostly indica, while the one on the right seems to be mostly sativa or 50/50. The sativa has pretty much taken up her half of the screen, while the indica has taken up a third of hers at best. But, it is what it is so i'm going to flower in a week. Here's my questions, as I'd like to hear some detailed opinions please.

    1. Is it best to start flower with the whole SCROG canopy laid completely level with the screen?

    2. Is it best to allow the SCROG canopy to poke through the screen a few inches and then flower?

    3. Is it best to continue training the canopy under the screen AFTER you begin flowering, and for how long?

    4. Is it best to only allow one chute to grow through each square of the screen, and prune all the rest back, or do you leave the entire canopy alone to grow through as it pleases? With the exception of standard fan leaf pruning and everything under the screen of course.

    5. Any advice on my specific situation would be awesome! Next time i'll make sure my two ladies are identical. Thanks everyone!

  3. Not sure what you mean by 'flip it to your grow journal'. SCROGS are getting rare? Haven't noticed that, my state limits my flowering plants to 3 and it has to be indoors. I know a lot of states have similar limits, whats everyone doing instead of SCROG'S?
