Hey guys, Been here before but it was so long ago that I can't remember my old account haha. Anyways, I'm getting set up for my first grow. Here are the details: It's about 3-4 sq. ft. I'm going to try and squeeze in 4 lowryders, may just stick with 2. I'm using a 100w HID for now, and going to put in another 100w as soon as my other ballast comes in. Seeing as this is my first time using HIDs, I just had a question: I'm planning on making my own reflector by cutting a hole in some cardboard (for the lights) and covering it with aluminum - this way I can custom fit it to the closet so there's no wasted light. Am I going to have any issues with heat from the lights possibly starting a fire? Any other suggestions for DIY light reflectors?
HID's generate quite a bit of heat.....I'd be careful with the cardboard. There's a DIY reflector on this thread you could perhaps retro fit for your growspace/light. It was made for cfl's, I think you might be able to rig something up. http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute...ficial-grow-cabinet-soil-cfl.html#post3226491 http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute...ficial-grow-cabinet-soil-cfl.html#post3228053
