Root Problems with pics

  1. Hi, I have a root condition and was wondering the group consensus on whether this was pythium (root rot) or just a salt build-up. Hopefully it is not some other condition that I am not aware of .

First the conditions: Ph: 5.9decreasing to ~5.7 with time. Water temp: high 70s, I know this is high, but I also treat it with a healthy dose of H2O2. Nute levels: 1500-1700 ppm. Tap levels: 200 ppm.

The root balls were at one point covered in a slimy goo, after inserting a pump to circulate water within the tank, the build up has subsided to what you see below. Any advice would be appreciated.

  2. nutes are too strong also maybe slight root rot
1500-1700 ppm is way to strong try 1000-1200 ppm

  3. Thanks for your write up, that analysis of TDS on the other post was very helpful.
