Its frosted glass, so it needs to twist out. I've tried wrapping cloth around it and turning it but with the sharp edge it wasn't working safely. I've also tried heating it up with a Bic lighter, but it wasn't getting hot enough. I don't have a torch handy. The local head shops don't want to touch it and run the risk of breaking it. My next step is to get a pick/hook tool from the hardwear store and a torch, heat it up and hopefully it'll come out without needing to twist out. Anyone run into this problem before? Open to all suggestions. Thanks blades, Doadies.
You could probably Dremel it to the point it breaks apart. There are bearing pullers that will grab the inside lip and then you pull on it. They look something like this one: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/OEM-Pilot-Bearing-Puller-Attachment/_/N-2643?itemIdentifier=230517_0_0_ Looks to me like there is enough meat left on it to stuff a cork in the broken end and wrap a cloth around the break and twist with a pair of channel lock or pliers VERY GENTLY.
I'd further break it like he said. Seems like it might be the safest way unless you can use his cork method.
