After years of creeping around GC, I finally feel I have something worthwhile to post and would love any comments, feedback, chirps that you feel may contribute positively to this experience. I have done a lot of research into my set up and plan going forward.. unfortunately, I am also a dumbass at times and rarely write down key points from my research that I can reflect on at a later date (I've convinced myself I will remember things). Therefore .. I feel a lot of this will be learning on the fly until I can get some organization in my life. I have been self-medicating with cannabis for about 13 years now (actually viewing as a medicine about 5 years) and have finally decided that I want be able to provide for myself and learn about the complexities of growing this amazing plant. Ultimately, I would like to create a version of the Rick simpson Oil when I have more experience under my belt and help not only myself but those around me in need. I have no green thumb at this point in my life so this will be a tremendous learning experience that hopefully others will be able to learn from as well. on to the show.. Strain : White Widow 2 Seeds sown in rapid rooter plug : Friday May 10th Using bottled spring water (18 litre jugs) GH Nutrients : Micro and Bloom (will be using the Lucas Formula) Tent : 4x4 secret jardin grow room 120 Light: 400 w Solarstorm w/UV , veg/bloom 2 black buckets with netpots set up as a DWC. 1 humidifier 2 8" fans 1 small air pump (have a tetra 100 whisper to use when flower) I have not been taking pictures up until today because I kept planning on getting a nice camera to document, but lets face it.. I can't afford a nice camera at this point sooo I will have to use phone for now. I will include the first week of notes in this post and then add new posts for days to follow. Day 1 - Sowed Seeds in Rapid rooter __________________________________________________________________________ Day 3 - Time : 7:00pm - Sunday May 12th - Both seeds germinated - I only had enough water to fill 1 bucket, used 13 L (3.4 g) bottled water, filled to 1/2" below bottom of net pot. - Light positioned roughly 20" from bucket, Temp: 22 C (71 F) Humidity: 58% --------------------- Time: 12:15am Temp: 26 C (79F) Humidity: 46% ____________________________________________________________________ Day 4 Time: 7:10am temp: 26C (79F) Humidity: 46% ---------- Time: 4:11pm temp: 26 Humidity: 42% Put second seed into netpot, Have lights running 24h __________________________________________________________________ Day 5 - Tuesday May 14th Temp: 27C Humidity: 40% Everything looking fine so far , a little concerned about temp. Opened up vent port up top of tent. _______ Time : 3:45pm Temp: 28 C (82F) humidity: 38% -------------------- Time : 11:31 pm Temp: 26C humidity: 42% PH levels: 8.1 PPM: 0 Water temp : 26C Note: 2nd potted plant is showing green and slowly curling to the light, 1st plant still no green. Added ph down : Left bucket down to 4.4 , right bucket down to 3.0. Hmmm I messed up there, adding Ph UP: Left bucket : 5.2 Right : 3.0 Added close to 1/3 of a BOTTLE of ph up to the right bucket with no result. (I will later find out that the security seal on my ph up bottle, that was off when I bought it, was actually a cause of concern and affected the integrity of the solution. I now have a new bottle) ____________________________________________________________________ Day 6 - Wednesday May 15th, 2013 - 9:00am Room temp : 25C Humidity: 46% Ph Left bucket : 7.0 Ph Right bucket: 4 (after adding even more ph up) 4:00 pm Left Bucket - Water temp : 25c , Ph 6.2, PPM(@500) 0 Right Bucket- Water temp: 24c, Ph 5.0, PPM (@500) 130 Room temp : 26 Humidity: 42% _____________________________________________________________________ Day 7 - Thursday May 15th, 2013 7:40 am Room temp: 22C Humidity: 64% --------------------- 4:48 pm Left: water temp 25c, ph 4.5 Right: 26c, ph 5.4 Room temp: 29c (84f) Humidity: 32% Note: Seed sheel was still restricting the right plant (still need to name) from opening up, so I carefully removed the shell. Introduced 1- 8" oscillating fan to tent ----------------------------- 11:53 pm Left : ph 4.7 added PhUP (3.5ml), new ph 5.0 , PPM 0 right: ph 5.3 , PPM 130 Room Temp: 27c Humidity: 34% ____________________________________________________________________ Day 8 - Saturday May 18th Left: ph 6.7(added .2ml ph down) --> new ph 4.4 ... fuck..lol wait to see if this changes. Right: ph 5.1 Room temp: 25c humidity: 23% ------------------------- Later that day... Room temp: 25c Humidity : 42% Notes: Right plant is still trying to open up more, has started getting straighter and reaching for light. I am concerned that the root doesn't go straight down, it kind of makes a loop and then goes down (will this bite me in the ass later?) More posts to follow SPOILER ALERT ... Day 8 - First Nute Day Room temp: 29c Humidity: 51% Values after adding nutes Left : ph 5.8 , PPM@500 = 650 , Water temp 23c (73F) Right: ph 5.8, PPM@500 = 600 Notes : both leaves are yellowish on both plants, will monitor after starting nutes -------------------------- 10:00pm Temperature : 32c (89F) Humidity: 40%
Day 9 - Tuesday May 21st Room temperature : 28c (82F) Humidity: 52% Note: right plant is leaning hard to one side, leaves on both plants are looking yellowish. Will monitor
Day 9 - Wed May 22 Time: 8:30 am Room Temp: 26c Humidity: 54% Left: ph 5.8, ppm 640 Right: ph 5.8, ppm 590 Note: Right plant still bent, roots starting to show underneath net pot. Still no sign of roos with the left plant even though it is looking healthier. Going to top off with water after work. ----------------------------- Post work times Topped up buckets with water, Post water levels: Left: ph 5.6, ppm 610, water temp 30c (86F) Right: ph 5.6, ppm 590, 29c Room Temperature : 30c Humidity : 50% Right plant still bent. I have been turning the pots to try to even out lighting and maybe straighten her up, I will try to prop her up tommorow if she is still bent over too much.
Day 10 - Thursday May 23rd, Still entering my notes from previous days.. realize what chicken scratch (shit) these notes are.. I will need to improve Time: 6:00 pm Room temp: 31c (88F) humidity: 36% Note: Tried to prop up right plant with the hydrocorn and I also gently pushed the looped root a bit further down into the rapid rooter (Will this looped root pose issues for me?). She is having a hard time standing upright, should I be looking at using a tie this soon? I have also added a 2nd fan to the room to try to help with the temps! --------------------- Time: 1:00am Room temp: 26c Humidity 44% Too soon to tell if it was the extra fan that helped lower the temp, or the drastic drop in outside air temp.
Day 13 - Sunday 9:30am Left bucket : 6.0 *added a bit of Phdown ---> new ph 5.3 , PPM = 630 Right bucket: 5.6 ph , ppm = 600 Room Temp : 23c Humidity : 46% Was not home too much this weekend. Checked in when I could, water levels are good, temps are still not in the range they need to be in. Notice leaves are starting to curl upwards.
Day 14 - Monday May 27th Time: 5:00pm Left : ph = 5.6 , ppm = 610 right: ph = 5.7 , ppm = 580 Room temp: 30c Humidity: 40 % Leaves are still curling in on themselves. I added 1Litre spring water to each bucket and those measurements were taken after adding water. I also added a bowl of water w/ a wash cloth in front of fan, to try to raise humidity. Tuesday May 28th Note: Added humidifier to room, current temp humidity = 27c / 40% Humidifier helped almost instantly (<1 hour) Wednesday May 29th Time: 3:00ish Left: Ph = 5.7 , PPM = 570, Water temp = 26c Right: Ph= 5.9 , PPM = 530, Water temp = 26c Room temp = 29c ... damn! Need to find a way to control my room temp. Problem: Leaves are still curled up and appear to have little reddish dots on them (a couple dots per leaf). There are no red dots on the right bucket leaves, they are just curled. I would guess my out of range temperatures are having something to do with this but any advise would be good. I have attached photos. Should I look at installing my vortex fan ? I have a major problem with where I am going to vent the fan. Is it ok to have the ducting run out the tent and into my room or is it advised to direct that air outside? (I am concerned with how I can discreetly do this through my bedroom window)
