  1. Did you guys know they have been rioting in Anaheim for 4 days?? This is old news by now...but the news didn't hit me till the 4th day... It wasn't in the local news, national news, it wasn't on yahoo news, google news, I didn't see it anywhere...I even checked the Anaheim news paper online, all I found was a small article about it near the bottom of the page...I had to look for it to find it...WTF!!! any opinions on this from anyone??

  2. I haven't heard anything about it. So I don't know how big the riots are. Depending on what is going on, I'm not surprised that it would be blacked out by the media. It's more important for the people to know what Lady Ga Ga is wearing today.

  3. yeah i haven't herd anything?

  5. 4 days?

    Try over a week. lmao

  6. Media blackout. Typical.

  7. What are they rioting for?

  8. The news nowadays is more like reading an issue of People magazine.

  9. Haven't heard anything about it

  10. This is pathetic i've never even heard vague reference to this on any news network, and as a canadian i try to keep up with American current events. I wonder when it became acceptable for all news networks to be partisan and have agendas. Waiting for the days news programs show neutrality in the news

  11. That was about 2 weeks ago and it was all over the news. The feds went through the neighborhood late this week and arrested 40 people on a gang sweep - it's a shitty area with shitty people.

The OP knows damn well it has nothing to do with weed - he's just trying to get you to click on his link......nothing but spam in disguise.

  12. I can't comment on OP's motivations (or the actual relevance for this thread in a cannabis news forum)...

...but this ain't something that happened two weeks ago & just blew over. There were protesters out again today, right on Disneyland's doorstep.

The local "shitty area with shitty people", as you so eloquently put it  , are tired of being shot at & abused by the Anaheim police, so they've been protesting. Police respond by shooting them some more, and (more recently) by deploying riot squads.

Here's a little something that originally helped to escalate the issue:

These protesters against police violence probably ain't being won over by the police response.

Less than 24 hours after this response, the police shot & killed another suspect. Things have taken off from there.

Now, this thread probably should be in a different section of the forum, but it shouldn't be simply dismissed as being unimportant. And yes, the media needs to be doing more to cover this.

  13. Fuck that. What's wrong homeboy? Oh these poor, poor innocent people just minding their own business and along comes a cop and shoots them. I know the area very well and maybe after a couple THOUSAND more arrests and shootings the area can be returned to a decent neighborhood. Probably be easier to take a CAT D10 in and rebuild later.

"Operation Halo" Targets Eastside Anaheim Gang
    Friday, Aug 10, 2012

Some 44 people were arrested in raids targeting an Anaheim gang responsible for at least a year-long string of crimes ranging from drug trafficking to homicide, federal officials said on Friday.

In the crackdown, dubbed “Operation Halo,” more than 100 federal, state and local officers fanned out to 54 locations across Orange County, capping a yearlong investigation of a gang known as East Side Anaheim.

In the raids, authorities also seized 11 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 40 guns, included sawed-off shotguns and a pistol believed used in a killing.

The raids focused on Anna Drive, the neighborhood where a reputed gang member was shot by police last month. That shooting -- and a second one the next day -- sparked a series of protests, clashes with Anaheim police and calls for city reform.

The raids come as the city of Anaheim is witnessing a spike in crime as other california cities and the country are seeing a drop. It also comes as Anaheim police have seen a spike in the number of officer-involved shootings.

Police Chief John Welter says the raids weren't connected to the shootings. He says authorities even considered delaying the raids to avoid that appearance.

The investigation included the use of informants and undercover officers who bought 38 firearms and a pound of methamphetamine. The guns recovered included “sawed-off” shotguns, assault-style weapons, semi-automatic pistols and an explosive device.

“ATF and its federal and local partners are dedicated to pursuing and combating those career criminals whose violent criminal activities threaten and severely detract from the welfare of our communities,” Steven J. Bogdalek, special agent in charge of the ATF’s Los Angeles office said in a statement.
