Yes, you definitely can flip it for a bit to get its sex to show, but eventually, in veg, the sex will show anyways. Alternatively, what a lot of people do is take a clone and flower the clone for a few weeks to determine sex. You could just stick the clone in a window sill and then throw it out or chop it up for use as mulch once it shows its sex. Typically, people will flower out plants for a few weeks and then stick them under 24 hour lighting to turn them back to veg because the plant shows some crazy growth. This practice is called monster cropping.
