Question for all the Pro-Government People

Discussion in 'Politics' started by HongKongPhooey, Aug 2, 2017.

  1. well yeah! but I gotta tax it about 45%. Sliding scale, which I will adjust as I see fit. These terms are non-negotiable, but since its my right it doesn't matter. ;)

  2. This 'Tax is Theft" crowd must live a life of misery, seeing their hard earned money being taken away from them by the government. What's worse is there is no government on earth that doesn't tax. Well, maybe Somalia, but who wants to become a pirate and rob oil tankers.

  3. I suppose cannabis qualifies as healthcare so i probably cannot avoid your service nor the fee?

  4. We all live the life of misery, in that sense, some people just willingly ignore it and pretend it is a good thing. It is an amazing feat of self-deception and cognative dissonance. If anyone else steals your property, it is a crime, but for some twisted reason it is okay for a government to do it.

I have yet to see ANY sound argument for taxes NOT being theft, unless taxes were completely voluntary, which they are not (because of the threat of further violations of your rights if you don't comply).

  5. It does suck daily being robbed and having not much you can do about it. You thieves can lie to yourselves all you want and pretend to stand on moral high ground but that doesn't make your theft a right. The only rights are natural rights supported by the NAP. Your ideology violates the NAP on a constant basis therefore constantly violating my basic human rights. You all should be disgusted with yourselves but instead circle jerk over the resources you plunder. Sick.
Legality does not equal morality and getting some people to agree with you and writing your opinions on paper does not make them a right. This is really basic and simple stuff.

  6. I believe we (they) are in the process of reinventing definitions for "Basic and Simple".

  7. If you have to be on obama care you are a loser in the game of life , get a job and real insurance that the doctor will take

  8. These greedy socialists want police protection, fire departments, and schools. Don't they know these things are privileges and shouldn't be provided by the government /s

  9. Rights are meaningless in a practical sense. Take the right to body autonomy and the right to life. These two conflict in the debate over abortion. Does the potential life or fetus have a right to life? Does their right to life outweigh the right to body autonomy of an individual? How can we guarantee for example that individuals have a right to a fair trial without compelling lawyers to be public defenders? Rights are not so black and white as people are portraying in this thread.

  10. How do you suggest we pay for the military?

I don't like paying taxes either, but also I can't complain about quality of life in this country.

And complaining rarely accomplishes anything. Perhaps you could propose an alternative to the current taxation system, while ensuring a reasonable standard of living.

  11. "Rights are meaningless..."

So it should be the compulsion of every person to make their rights a practical reality.

Perhaps if we put more value in individuals and the human race (thus our rights) in general, people would feel and understand the significance of procreation. It is kind of like war, it is a lot easier to kill the bad guy when it is not you who has to do the dirty work, it is easier to justify or put out of your conscience.

  12. Well you two have shown a lot about yourselves. By equating "a cabin in the woods" with healthcare you have shown how completely out of touch you are with the public and how utterly ridiculous your opinions are about government.

You have lost this argument regardless of the fact that you may find half a dozen people here to smirkingly agree with you.

No wonder you have so little trust in government carrying the "values" that you do.

    You lose.

  15. Maybe you're right, way down deep, we all are such miserable fcuks so lets be honest with ourselves and instead of trying to hide it with brave faces, we should focus on something to be miserable about. If it weren't for taxes and our mean old government, it would be something else.

  17. Why do libs always try and make life so complicated?

  18. It is an exaggerated analogy, clearly, but i guess i shouldn't expect you to parse that.

If you want to claim victory in an argument, let us first engage properly.

You give your contention and supporting arguments, i give mine, we rebut each others and then decide who wins eh?

  19. I dont want anyone to be miserable, i want everyone to be happy and healthy. Government and corporations (legal fictions/soulless entities) are the most egregious violaters of humanity, i think our energy should be toward fixing those things. We can iron out the details but we have to recognize and agree upon some of our most primary problems.

In a world of such abundance there is no need for healthcare to be so inaccessible to so many people. The solution shouldn't be to take from others to bridge the gap, it should be to address the gap.

In order to have a just and moral society we have to have a morally consistent framework to build society around and upon. As soon as you allow the property of others to be seized and a portion given to somebody else, you are justifying an immoral action and compromising the moral framework.

  20. It is readily available knowledge that there is a huge wealth distribution bias. The solution isnt to tax the hell out of the super rich, it is to fundamentally address how they got that rich.

The moral framework in corporations and government is psychopathic, it is greed, selfish, careless, ruthless, etc. It should be no wonder how or why some are so rich, and have 5 mansions while some children are roofless. It is a value problem we don't teach people how valuable they are, and violating peoples rights immediately lets our young people know that they are not valued, they are valuable, a human resource to be exploited like every other resource. If you were to describe a bad person or an ultimate villain, those would be among the characteristics you would probably use to describe such a creature.

We have a morality and values problem, especially in the united states, but we must be very cautious and wise on how we mean to remedy this problem. Surely giving more money and power to the archetypal devil isn't wise.
