Question about the plant's beginning...

  1. I was wondering, my plan of action for growing is to germinate a seed, plant it in a cup, grow it to a few inches in the cup and then transplant it outside. My question is, after germination, when I put the seed in the soil//cup, do I have to have my light on for it to grow? I'm talking about before the plant sprouts, while it's a seedling underground. Do I have to have my light on for it? Just wondering.

    Thanks.

  2. First you should try to germ and grow more than one seed. It may not sprout, and even if it does you don't want all your hopes riding on a 50/50 coin toss that you are raising a boy.

You don't need a light on the soil before it sprouts, but I still think it's wise. You should keep the area a little on the warm side (which a light will do) and the sprout will get light as soon as it does pop up. Not too close or too strong, all babies are sensitive.

  3. it will not need light until after it sprouts but I use one anyway for thr reasons Toasty mentions.
