Question about Hydro Drip Setups

  1. Okay, I have a HydroFarm Drip Setup that a friend gave to me. I'm a little confused how I use this. I was planning on using 4" rockwool cubes in hydroton... where do I put the dripper? How will one dripper keep the entire root system well fed?

    Thanks!

  2. I usually use drip stakes that I place about half way from stem to rim of pot. I try to put 2 drippers on opposite sides. Hydroton will wick water as it drains down and keep the bottom of the roots well fed. The other advantage of drip feed systems is they pull lots of oxygen into root zone.

As the timers feed the plant, old air is displaced, then when the hydroton slowly dries, fresh o2 is pulled in. When you get the right timing dialed in, the growth can be explosive. Most of the time, I would water every 3-4 hours, but when plants are younger and roots haven't reached the bottom, you may have to water every 2 hours. Good luck with your new system.

  3. Thanks, that answered my question perfectly.
