QB132(x4) vs 600w mh/hps....??

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by Bronco1500, Aug 9, 2018.

  1. Close but no cigar. 8 QB132's at max current will produce about 97,000 lumens and 1400 uMol's/s PPF, slightly more light than a 600W HPS (90k lumens and about 1200 uMols PPF) but not even close to the output of a 1000W HPS at over 140K lumens and over 1800 uMol's PPF.

  2. 400w HPS vs a combined 460w LED; results won't be in for another month with this bagseed.

  3. Order from Arrow instead and you get free overnight shipping. Price is only $1.27 more. - free shipping more than makes up for the difference.

  4. Plus 30% off the first order. That is huge!

    Gotta go. More later....

    70w x 15 boards = 1,050w of LED POWER !!!

  7. I've noticed a few configurations where folks have left some spacing between the boards; wasn't sure if that was to help dissipate heat or take advantage of wider beams. You look like you're going to blot out the Sun.

  8. .... I didn’t plan much, just kinda dove in & that’s what came out...
when I powered 8 boards I felt like GOD had entered the room, 15 is gonna be sunglasses worthy...

    Wire starting...

Didn’t use glue, so I can easily change it up down the road.

  10. So, after further thought I’m gonna go 12 boards in my 4x4, and set up a secondary 2x4 with the other 4 boards. This should be a better use of the boards and maybe contribute to a more consistent flow of nugz.

I’ll get goin on it Monday morning when the boss heads off to the salt mine.

What say you veteran growers ?

  11. Max them at their full 75w

  12. U want to space them for 1 heat and 2 better spread and hot spots!!

  13. Bro for that 4x4 u only need 6 8 at most hell 6 is 380w at max 75w/board witch would flower it but 8 would be real nice. 12 is gettin up to the 5x5 man these lights aint no joke very intense!!!!

  14. Agreed. I have a 4x4 tent i run 2 systems (QB&Cobs) combined in one frame (im currently redoing it cause my previous was not intended for both although i did have 2 runs). I have 300w of cobs from Timbergrowlights and 260w Quantum Board and i ran 600w MH/HPS and the new setup exceeded the g per watt of the hps.

I also have two QB120's but havnt needed to add them plus unless it was 4 and I would sell the 260w. Right now im just wondering if I should mount those two drivers where i have them or that would be a problem.

This system made rock hard baseball bat colas (genetics are always important) from top to bottom. What I remember being different was the penetration PPFD making the colas fatter much lower on the plant. Defoliation helps there too.

  15. Ya know, we just spent years listening to bullshit of how blurples were suppose to outperform HIDs at 50% of the wattage. They didn't. Actually most blurples were lucky to match HIDs at = wattage. Now the QBs come out and while they finally coming close to these original claims...it is still not at 50%. Yet we have claims like you just made seaping into the discussion. Come on @smokeout69, so you think those 4 qbs you speak of will produce 20+ oz. of weed. I do, pretty much every grow, with my 5yo HPS running cheapass lights.

  16. 4 qb132’s will definitely not beat a 600 HPS. If my power bill wasn’t so high, and having such a hot summer, I probably wouldn’t have bought (12) qb120’s, but I’m going to see if 8 will beat a 600 HPS. I get some heavy, frosty nugs, and up to 3/4 oz colas with the HPS, gonna be tough to beat.

  17. I don't know if four of those boards would do 20 ounces but I know genetics plays a big role and those quantum board you're talking about I think are 60w isnt it? I don't think four of those would do it but another 260 W would. it all depends on a lot of variables I don't think there's much argument for holding onto old MH lights and less somebody can't afford quantum boards or other issues. I can't find many reasons why anybody would want to hold on to that old tech. I couldn't wait to get rid of it just for heat issues and HVAC issues was wonderful not to mention space. Was like trying to fit a casket into my tent I still have a cool tube that I have just sitting there cant get rid of it.

  19. Put it this way I think I have just under 600 W total with my two systems combined six cobs and the 260 quantum board in the middle and I surpassed 20 ounces with 4 plants in a 4 x 4 tent. Did it twice with these lights.

  20. U can call it old tech but u can't get giant buds with led. Just how it is , they do not create enough ummmp .
