Putting Team USA in Perspective

  1. It's a long read but very well worth it if you want to gain any insight on Team USA..and why this specific team is so important

  2. Yes it definitely comes from the top, and these guys are great guys to have representing us. 2004 just never should have happened but it was bound to. We figured we could just send an All Star team out there every 2 years and expect to come home with gold, well we were wrong obviously.

One of the best and worst moments I have ever witnessed in my sports watching life was watching an NBA reserve guard, Carlos Arroyo and a band of unknowns just slice and dice the best players in the world. Carlos Arroyo. It was great because it was great to see such energy, exuberance and teamwork triumph but sad because it essentially marked the end of an era. Then they won on a buzzer beater, then lost to Lithuania and then Greece I think that's how it went down.

This team is really avenging that. The team is playing very well and is winning on defense and transition. I'm still fairly amazed that they haven't really figured things out from the half court yet but it's just not going to matter but if this team was to improve on one thing it would be the set offense.

Fiba is going to push the lines back here soon, I think that will create more space for the offenses and you'll see better teams from the half court here in the future. Amazing that they have no zone busters though but like I said at the beginning of this, any one player should be able to dominate and no team is as perfectly built as the US which just has no positional weaknesses and will need to be beaten as a team.

Also, I completely agree with the article about Prince. One of my 5 favorite players in the league, definitely the most underrated great player in the league I couldn't be more glad to see him get his due and was confident all along that Coach K and his staff would recognize that.
