Propagation help

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Great Brettian, Jul 18, 2012.

  1. Hello, I am in the midst of my first grow and I need some help. I am popping the seeds by using the paper towel method. But when theyre popped I am going to put them in rockwool cubes in a propagation tray before I put them in my hydro system. I have some questions on this process.

    1. How far do I put the seedling in the rockwool cube?
    2. How much should I water it in the cube?
    3. How tall should I let it get before I put it in the hydro system? (Note: for my veg and flowering stage I am using dimmable 400w hps and mh bulbs)
    4. How much light should should I give it in the rockwool cube?
    5. When I transfer it over to the hydro system should I take it out of the rockwool or keep it in?

I havent really found a straightforward answer to these questions. All I see is germination in the rockwool, not propagation. So if anyone could answer any of these questions it would be a big help. Thank you.

Sincerly, someone just looking for help on making the world a little greener :)

    1. The depth of the hole must be approximately twice the size of the seed to be germinated.

    3. Once you see roots coming out of the bottom, it is time to transplant to the hydro system.
    4. A couple 6500k CFLs should be fine until you transplant them. Try to use ones bigger than 40watts.
    5. It'd be quite a hassle to remove the plant from the cube and for no real benefit. You'd break more roots than you could count! Leave the plants in the cubes.
