  7. Yeah growing in a 2x4 is much more satisfying for the time put in. Was a good entry level and gave a great experience to be successful

  10. Oh that makes more sense! Haha I've been okay, lost my grow room and had to go to a 2 x 2. The exs parents owned that place so lost that haha other than that I've been good. Right now finishing up a grow of snow moon! Super ❄❄ on the girls . Found a sugar leaf with a glob of oil on it so these should be great for pressing ! Hows that been going for you, are you still making everclear oil or have you changed over to the rosin?

  11. I haven’t been making oil lately, took an overall smoke break for a few weeks recently. Love smoking flower, everything else is cool too, just prefer joints.

Sorry to hear you lost your grow space man, breakups are hard but usually lead to something much better!

  12. Hey prepper,

Had a question that I was needing a little guidance on. I really could go either way but I wanted to know what you thought...

I’m going to beds in my room rather than a bunch of 15 and 20 gallon pots, I have enough space for two options..

1 4 x 8 grassroot bed with a couple extra 20 gallon pots thrown in to keep my plant count, or...
    1 3 x 3 and one 3 x 6 geopot bed.

I’m leaning towards the second option but really don’t know. Plant count wise the two bed system would be way better. Also blumats would be pretty simple with two beds... let me know what you think!

Also was wondering how many ladies are you fitting in your 4 x 8?

  13. That’s a great question! So I’ve grown in all kinds of pots, and I’m really just loving this 4’x8’ living soil bed from grassroots and you can see that the plants do too. The built in trellis makes that whole deal so simple and secure. My free standing trellis over my 200gal geo pots is very unstable and moves a lot when I bump into it.

Height is important to consider, especially when using clones, their roots tend to go out like a dish vs more straight down like a taproot on seeds. Shallower soil save you money and head space. Watering is more effective and allows the roots to truly use up the space. I’m having issues keeping my 200gals as moist as I’d like and I just think it’s way to deep. A lot of space and soil going to waste.

Plant count depends on height. I have 8x med/big plants in the 4x8 bed, but there is wasted space in the middle that’s perfect for another 2x plant’s. I know I can fit 10x plants 24”-30” tall in this easy. 12x small one foot plants. With 2x 1k’s above, this bed is crushing it. Can’t wait to weigh these dry!

Grassroots does custom beds too, maybe check into that, I priced a 4’x12’ living soil bed from them to replace my 200’s and it was $200.

  14. I’ve actually sent in for two quotes but haven’t heard back anything yet...I’m hoping they come through for sure, and that works, two beds is my first option, and would really utilize all my space available! The afghani mom has made me realize I wanna grow bigger ladies!

I was thinking 12”-14” depth when I requested my quote, and I really am hoping it works. The whole set up looks awesome, and super simple.

I didn’t really think about that, I could also stuff a bunch of plants in a 4 x 8 depending on size and just shift my lights different...oh decision. I guess I’ll wait a week and see if I get any quotes back...

  15. Quick question guys, are the grass root beds made with landscaping cloth and 2x4s? Or is it more complicated than that? What keeps the water from running out the bottom? I kno thats 2 questions lol

  16. The grass roots have an actual notill/ living soil bed that is supposed to wick moisture more naturally like Mother Nature....

They do use PVC which I wasn’t thrilled about. Figured you could use pex instead...

Prepped will know more...I think it’s more complicated!

  17. I just got the standard 4’x8’ they have for living soil beds. Holds about 360 gals topped off. I put 320 in mine I think. Left a little room for the future transplants.

  20. Hey man, sorry I didn’t see your question yesterday. The beds are “Made with high quality, UV-resistant, and chemically stable fabric (BPA-free!).
These beds are soft-sided and breathable with MoistureLock optimized for living soil or traditional use.” - Grassroots website

I love that it’s PVC and super super easy to assemble. The fabric is marked where you need to cut the PVC too. Doesn’t get any simpler!
