i found a place locally that supplies mantis eggs. has anyone ever used them on thier mmj? would they be effective against spidermites?
Not advised for indoors. Praying mantis babies are voracious eaters, dining on small flies, ants, and aphids. Each ootheca may have from 10 to 100+ babies, and they will display cannibalism shortly after hatching. If you have that bad of a pest problem, you may want to invest your time raising mantids! cool as a pet though
The reason for not having them indoors is because they won't stay put and there wouldn't be a steady enough supply of food. Also, they are likely to get killed in fans and ventilation, burned on lights, get stomped on, or get stuck to colas. Best bet is ladybugs, and even then they can die off or get stuck in colas. Not bashing mantids though, they are the most intelligent and coolest creature! Quite curious and friendly.
