PLEASE HELP Homemade pain relief...

  1. Hello,

I'm new to the grasscity community. I live in a state where medical marijuana is not legal (yet, that is; we're in the process but many of our surrounding states have very strict guidelines, stifling availability and there are signs that our state might follow that trend). My grandpa has had a heart attack, a brain bleed, a stroke, prostate cancer and most recently leukemia, all within my 20-year lifetime. He made it past the cancer. After 4 months in the hospital he left cancer free. Then he got a condition called GVHD which they put him on steroids to relieve. Because of all of these things, he can barely walk, his muscles have broken down and he is in the process of building them back up. He takes opiods which do him some good but he is still in a lot of pain.

Personally, I've been a smoker for 4 years. I smoke almost everyday, having bipolar II with a history of manic episodes, it has kept me on an even keel for the 2 years since coming off of psych meds (which completely wrecked my body and spirit) . So I totally believe in using marijuana for medicinal purposes. :metal:  I have been trying to convince my grandpa to use marijuana for his pain. Finally I got him to agree. MY PROBLEMS ARE:
    1. He won't smoke it.
    2. He has two conflicting symptoms. The steroids have taken away his appetite so full strength weed might help there but he is constantly lethargic as a result of a decrease in his steroids so making him any more tired might deter him from using weed in the future to help his symptoms.
    3. This is his first endeavor into the marijuana world and I'm afraid to get him high in case he doesn't like the actual high.

From the research that I have done on tinctures and oils, it looks like I will have to use a lot of marijuana, which in a non-legal state can really fucking set you back, as some of you probably remember and I really want him to get some REAL RELIEF. It really looks like after all he's been through, the depression surrounding the fact that he is in constant pain is taking the worst toll on his morale than anything.  :(

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much for reading all of this.

  2. Make a tincture using this process.  Find a strain that promotes appetite (ask on the thread) without lethargy.
