Plastic Straw- Burning in a vape?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Greenwall, Feb 17, 2013.

  1. I'm replacing my MFLB stem which shattered some time back with a plastic soda straw with some scotch tape at the end to fit into the MFLB draw

Been using it native for a while and to be honest the stem makes vaping much chiller

I'm concerned that the straw's plastic/tape will be releasing fumes when I vape? Anyone have any input?

  2. I don't think plastic has THC in it, it will make you sick. But I don't believe it will release many fumes in the first place.

  3. Just to clarify, my concern is that the heat from the MFLB's vapor contacting the plastic on the straw will cause release of toxic plastic fumes.

  4. Oh. I don't think heat would release the toxins from the plastic. I'm not expert but have you ever held up a lighter to a piece of plastic? Do you notice how it takes at least a few seconds before the plastic starts smoking? And this is with direct flame. Heat from vapor shouldn't get the plastic to its melting point where it will release its toxins. Although I'm no scientist so everything I say should be discredited like a piece of shit. LOL :smoking::smoking:
