pH up pH down?

  1. When altering the pH level is it ok to use say either lemon juice or vinegar to lower the pH and say use baking soda to up the pH? If not what is the difference in the chemical approach?

  2. You can use vinegar or lemon juice to lower pH, but for some reason I and others have found that with these the pH will jump right back where it was by the next day. To raise pH I wouldn't use baking soda, home remedies include dolomite lime[FONT=&quot], hardwood ash, bone meal, crushed marble, crushed oyster shells.

  3. thanks for the pointers greatly appreciated......also my seeds have popped during the germination now how long can i leave them in the germination state im just waiting for the rockwool to get moist enough before i place them in....

  4. Do NOT use baking soda - it contains sodium which is TOXIC to your plants. Buy safe pH up from a grow shop or pet store - aquarists use it.
